Freedom Church: The Liberation of Soul

Freedom Church: The Liberation of Soul, is a one act play created and directed by Deborah Asante. It is produced in partnership with Conner Prairie in an effort by both organizations to become more inclusive. The play weaves a story using the threads of American history, trauma, resilience and resolve to explore the country’s struggle for equity and particularly how the evolution of the Black Church shapes that struggle.

Freedom Church: The Liberation of Soul showcases the talents of ACT’s Academy members and includes vocals by AshLee Baskin, choreography by LeToryia Gowdy, music composition by Mark Duerson and a special guest appearance by Josiah McCruiston.
